Decentralized social media: identity you keep, permissions you hold, history you can check

Most social products are centralised in the only place that matters: they own your identity. Qosmos is built the other way round — the QosmiQ ID identity spine comes first and every surface is a consumer of it, while the BloQchain simulator models the provenance and permission mechanics that decentralized social media depends on.

What decentralized social media actually means

The word usually gets attached to a protocol, but the substance is ownership. A network is decentralised to the degree that a person can carry their identity out of it, decide per piece of content who may read it, keep a social graph that is not a platform asset, and verify the history of decisions made about them. Protocols are one way to get there. Architecture is the other, and it is the part you can inspect today.

Qosmos treats those four properties as design constraints rather than features. Identity is a single object every surface reuses. Visibility is declared on the record, not inferred by a ranking system. Membership and follows are owned rows with roles. Sensitive changes append to an audit trail that the affected person can read.

Portable identity, not a platform account

QosmiQ ID is the single identity spine across every Qosmos surface — social, create, learn, work, civic, wellness. One handle, one profile, one consent record, reused by each surface instead of duplicated per product. That reuse is the precondition for portability: the identity is the object, and the surfaces are consumers of it.

Permissions the person actually holds

Every record in Qosmos carries an owner and an explicit visibility. Reads and writes are evaluated per object against who is asking, so a surface cannot widen its own access. Nothing is visible by default because it happens to sit in a shared database.

Provenance you can inspect

BloQchain models append-only records with parent links, so a history can be validated and traced back to its origin rather than trusted. Applied to a social graph, that is the difference between being told a decision was fair and being able to walk its audit path.

Communities that own their charter

QopQrews and Qommunities let a group define its own membership and governance rules, moderation roles and health signals. Decentralisation is not only technical — it is who gets to write the rules for a space.

Where BloQchain fits — and where it stops

Decentralized social media leans heavily on provenance: if no single party is trusted, history has to be checkable. BloQchain is the Qosmos sandbox for exactly that. You create a demo record, link it to a parent, validate the chain, trace provenance back to its origin, and compare public, private and consortium permission models to see what each one costs in coordination.

It stops firmly short of a network. Nothing is minted, nothing is traded, no consensus is joined, and no claim of decentralisation is implied by using it. It is a way to reason about the mechanics before committing to infrastructure.
